South Korean officials said Wednesday that the country’s Minister of Justice, Han Dong-hoon, met with U.S. prosecutors during a visit to New York to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation in financial crime investigations, particularly in the cryptocurrency space. Han Dong-hoon met Tuesday with Andrea M. Griswold, director of the Securities and Commodities Task Force at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, and Scott Hartman, director of the office's Securities and Commodities Fraud Task Force, officials said. The two sides discussed plans to enhance cooperation and information exchange between the Seoul Southern District Attorney's Office and the New York Southern District Attorney's Office in the fight against major securities fraud and financial crimes, and also agreed to share the latest investigative data on ongoing crypto cases, including those surrounding UST and the Luna. South Korean prosecutors are reportedly investigating possible fraud allegations surrounding UST and Luna, while the U.S. SEC is investigating Do Kwon, co-founder and CEO of Terraform Labs, and whether UST’s pre-crash marketing violated investor protection rules.
